Stop!! You have found your next sushi place to try. This place is run by a hard working couple that loves what they do, takes pride in their businesses and quality of food that they serve. I live in San Diego and have already come back, it's that good! The owners remembered us and were very thankful for the review my partner left previously. They say they are not tech savvy but are truly thankful for all the wonderful reviews they receive. The sushi was so fresh and delicious! The rice was perfect, that's what ruins good sushi for me most times. It's in DTLA so parking might be tricky but there are lots of meters around and paid parking garages. If you can't find parking do yourself a favor and order to go, put those e-lights on real quick and run in to grab the best sushi you've tried in a long time.
I happened to park in front of this restaurant by chance. Even though they were booked, the owner was accommodating and the waitress was on point with every recommendation. Delish is definitely one of the words that come to mind when eating their rolls. Freshness and softness are part of the experience.
Excellent Omakase. Itamae switches between Shirozu (white) and Akazu (red) vinegared rice depending on fish. Highlights were the appetizers, aged maguro (very tender!), San Diego uni and A5 wagyu. Garnishes accentuate not overwhelm natural taste of neta (topping).
*Updated* W😮W! I just wanted to say this place is amazing!!! So, I was originally looking at some catering options to prep for a birthday dinner but I decided to go with this place for take out because I had a really good experience in the past and it was both tasty and visually appealing for the guests. I put in a decent size order and the chef put together an amazing party plate for us! They also added in a huge salad as a complimentary gift which was amazing. They sure know how to keep a customer. I was able to get the picture of the sushi plate but couldn’t get the salad. It was gone too fast before I could even take a picture... honestly I got so many compliments from my guest for my sushi plate and I’m pretty sure this will be my designated spot from now on for serving guests. So happy with this place ☺️ and the picture came out so beautifully! This is my new go to sushi place. Fresh quality, generous portion and owners who care about food quality. Highly recommend this place.
The sushi at Hanabi Sushi Bar is insanely good. Salmon, tuna, snapper, all as fresh as can be and expertly handled. I have never before had every bite be so tasty that soy sauce was simple unnecessary. Each piece let the fresh fish be the star while still being a complex treat. Will be returning repeatedly
Had the absolute pleasure of enjoying the omakase at Kenbey Sushi. Each item had a stunning and very thoughtful presentation, the flavors and textures were delightful and interesting. The staff was kind and attentive. I do recommend making a reservation as it’s an intimate restaurant. Can’t wait to enjoy a meal here again!
I saw this place by my work and thought I should give them a try! They just opened 4 weeks ago. I ordered the medium size chicken teriyaki bowl ($8) and added a side of avocado (+$2). The medium bowl is quite filling! They have small & medium bowl, and large & XL plate. I hope they can last long in the spot because I will get some more 😆
Absolutely the best "specialty" hardrolls I've had. I also had another plate with cured albacore and crispy onion it was amazing.. Quality ingredients are obviously present. The design of the restaurant is elegant, sober and modern with the lounge music adding to the latter. Everything is spotless clean. Service is on point plus they are friendly and attentive. Fine place to make an impression.
OMG, this place is incredible! You must try dragon rolls and lobster rolls. These were not only nice plating but also very delicious! I've never been to a better sushi restaurant in Korea Town than here! All the ingredients were fresh and the service was great!
Our new go-to sushi spot! Amazing, friendly and quick service and the best sushi rolls and nigiri I’ve had since moving to LA. Really cute atmosphere in a small, cozy space- would be a great date night or regular spot for amazing food.
Amazing quality for the price. This place uses real wasabi and blends their own soy sauce. That's quite rare for a sushi restaurant of this price range. The one thing that I am excited about with this restaurant is not the fish, that's a given, it's the rice. Hands down of the best seasoned, cooked, and extremely consistent rice. You can have the best quality fish in the world but when you pair that with just okay rice, it's the only thing you'll notice. This place is a smidge more expensive than the rest in the area but the experience is miles above a lot of other sushi restaurants with higher price points.
The quality of fish is very good, and the food is delicious. The staff is very kind, if a bit overwhelmed. While the AYCE is a very good deal, I am inclined to say come often and try rolls individually, taking pleasure in the different flavors. Pros: Awesome flavors, good quality, kind staff Cons: A bit slow (though this could just be because they were under-staffed that day) They do crunchy and tempura well, and their nigiri is absolutely worth it. Salad's a bit underwhelming. I recommend: Jessica, crunch supreme, yellow tail, and octopus!
Sushi is quite good. But god almighty! Our experience was seriously dampened by two loud-mouthed, wine-braggers who would not shut up. It’s a small room people - please keep that in mind. My only complaint about the restaurant is the beverage offerings are quite limited. Best to bring your own.
Unbelievable attention to detail, and you will eat until you’re full. The owner, Michael, takes care of his customers so closely, you would never know he’s the owner. It’s only been open 3 months at this point, but it’s one of the best Sushi spots in Los Angeles.
Fresh and tasty sushi place. They are very friendly to have us large pieces of sashimi. The plaza also have a 2 hour validation parking for customers.
Amazing food! One of my top sushi places in LA. No parking, no reservations, no delivery, no nonsense place for great quality fish. Not the easiest to inquire about, but they have a very loyal fan base for a reason, you just have to make the trip here to find out.
Hella fresh and crisp hand rolls for lunch. Very elegant counter to sit at and watch the rolls being made. I went with the 6 roll set: Toro, Yellowtail, Salmon, Bay Scallop, Crab, and Lobster. The Crab 🦀 was my favourite of the rolls but they were all filled with perfectly seasoned rice and delicious fish.
I love onigiri and WOW this place has MASTERED it!! I visited twice over my week in LA and tried about half of their offerings.... Every single one was amazing. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be Salmon yuzu!! Vegetarian options available. Covid vaccination required to sit inside. Lovely staff.
