Fun and different. I had never been to a place like this. We got the beef and seafood platter ( they say it’s enough for 2 people ) but it’s really good for 3. The staff was friendly. The platters come with a variety of things to boil. It is very fun to make your own creations and figure out what you like or don’t. I wouldn’t recommend getting the seafood platter, boiling fish, scallops and mussels doesn’t taste the best and it’s hard to tell when they are fully done or not. That is personal choice though.

Nice Japanese hotpot place. We tried the five courses version. The king crab and A5 wagyu are fresh and delicious. Overall food quality is pretty high. The staff are friendly and caring. This place is a little bit pricy, but worth try it out.

We ordered the premium order and it was worth it! The meat, seafood, and veggies along with other toppings were fresh. The service was awesome as they were very attentive and asked us if we needed more meat (they were very knowledgeable of the menu and funny too!). After our meal, the restaurant gave us ice cream as dessert and the ice cream cone was one of the best soft serve I ever had!

Best hotpot! We definitely ordered a little too much but wow it was really great. The sushi was also pretty good. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of fish. The wagyu was amazing. We loved the truffle pork meat balls and the foie gras cuttlefish balls so much. The soup bases were great! We got half and half. The Sichuan one was a bit too spicy for us but the flavor was overall nice. If you like Sichuan food, you would definitely like the soup! The staff was so nice. The dessert was free and it was DELICIOUS. This is a must have every time we come visit Vancouver now!

Came here on the Lunar New Year. One of the best experiences I've ever had! Our waitress was extremely kind and helpful. It wasn't busy at all right when they opened at 5. Loved the traditional dining setting and everything was absolutely delicious. Their house sauce they serve the vegetable salad in is divine!

This has Potential to one of my favorite Restaurants. I like Ramen, but to Cook your own own is super fun and great. First you decide your meat and combinations, we added the Ramen noodles and instead having the simple miso we choose the spicy Ramen. Its not so hot, just a little bit spicy. When you are done, it looks like a total mess...but we had our fun.

I love the Shubu shabu restaurant! I highly recommend the Japanese A5 Wagyu beef and the US Kobe signature cut.

Great ayce shabu shabu option. Protein choices are a bit limited: beef, beef belly, pork, pork belly, and shrimp. Wagyu beef available with added cost. Although protein choices are not extensive, but what they have are pretty good quality and definitely not a big step down just because it's ayce. My favorite soup based is sukiyaki, the slight sweetness highlights flavors of both meat and veggies.

I really love this place. Delicious each and every time. The quality of the meat is great and I feel good after eating my meal. The manager and staff are also very friendly and helpful if there is anything you need at any point in your meal. I highly recommend it.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - got the Shabu-shabu and Sukiyaki. The sukiyaki was salty even after water to dilute but it was great using it as a dipping sauce after cooking the ingredients. The shabu-shabu was wonderful and the gomadare (sesame sauce) was a perfect creaminess for the vegetables. All the meat cooked up wonderfully and since there is a different selection of how much marbling/fat, it has options for everyone. The vegetables were fresh but fewer selections than before, still enough to satisfy all wants. The drinks are separate cost so we just had water. We think the ice cream comes from Crystal Creamery and was just the right amount of sweetness to end the meal. Ambience: 5/5 - soft jazz/elevator music made it comfortable to be there for an extended period of time. The store was clean and organized with clear signs with instructions of where to grab the tongs and return used items Service: 5/5 - it was a bit difficult to hear the hostess during the initial conversation but she was friendly. The waiters were extremely attentive without being overbearing. Value for price: 5/5 - $. for lunch AYCE with $4. for service charge and $2. tax for total of $.. A bit pricier but worth it to hit all the cravings in one go!

Great little place, upscaled and clean. We got there as soon as they open at 5pm and we were the second guest to arrived. We got greeted and seated right away. Servers were very welcoming and helpful. They took out order right away and explain to us the difference in the broths and meats. Food and drinks came out quickly and look delicious, we were celebrating bday and got all the works. All the meats we tried were delicious as were the vegetables. Their mango sorbet was delicious. Great place to visit. Love the decor!

Delicious and fresh! Love the layout of the hot pots and the barriers between parties. Makes it nice and a little private. Staff is friendly and helpful with any and all questions. Perfect for date night and a family dinner, really cool experience to try out!

First time here! Highly recommend to any sushi lovers! Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurant in town. Will be back soon!

This place has quick friendly staff with good, well priced, food. During my stay, I enjoyed breakfast and lunch and tried the more quirky items on their menu. All items were great and came out quickly. Would recommend for your quick meal while staying at the Buchanan or as you're visiting Japantown.

This was my first time doing sukiyaki! Went here with my hubby and we both enjoyed it so much! The food was delicious and the service was really nice! They had Sapporo Premium beer which I suppose is not common and we really like it! One order of sukiyaki is a whole course meal designed for one person. (Meaning it includes an appetizer, then tempura, then the actual sukiyaki with meat and some veggies, after a ramen, and lastly mochi with ice cream for dessert). However we did one for the two of us and then just added more items such as meat, etc. It was super delicious and filling! Would definitely recommend and go again to try the shabu shabu next time!!

We came here on my birthday and it was an amazing experience. It was my second time coming, first time after the pandemic though. Service was friendly and helpful. Their meat selection was great. We love how each of us have their own hot pot and there were many sauces. I know it’s AYCE and we for sure usually eat a lot, but the portion was extremely good that we were done after the first round. I think for AYCE price of ~ bucks/person, it is worth it. I know many other AYCE hot pot places would be cheaper but then they’ll charge for sauces and other things. Parking is plenty but not plenty if you want to park super close to the restaurant. But it wasn’t so bad on Friday when we arrived right at 5pm.
