Soul Food Restaurants near me in Los Angeles, California, US.

"Today was my first time here and it’s already one of my favorites! I ordered the Garlic Herb Noodles with my choice of chicken, glazed with their delicious House Sauce. I also ordered the seasoned fries but those were quickly devoured and the reason why they are not in the picture. The Garlic Herb Noodles were creamy and aromatic, the grilled chicken and sweet yet spicy House Sauce combination was so tasty, and I certainly can’t forget the incredible welcoming soul at the register along with the sweet cook that made my first experience here so amazing!"

"What a wonderful vegan restaurant! Finally Compton has an amazing option 🙌🏾 . I went here with my nonvegan brother and mom and they both loved it! Not pictured here is one of the best vegan burgers I ever tasted, the truffle burger which my brother declared was one of the best burgers he has ever had in general. The seasoning and flavor was so amazing and I will definitely be trying to replicate it at home, the fries were also amazing, just wish they were included with the burger and not as an added side. The soul plate and BBQ plate was also amazing! Lots of delicious sides. If you are looking for an amazing plant-based restaurant definitely don't miss out!"

"Had the opportunity to visit Jack's family kitchen while visiting the LA area and the food was great as well as the service....everyone made you feel welcome. I would definitely recommend this spot. I had the two egg breakfast it was so good I didn't get a picture. My husband had the fried chicken also very good option."

"I have a New Year day tradition that includes shrimp and grits, gumbo, greens and black eyed peas. I really didn’t feel like cooking this year as I am dining solo due to the fact everyone I normally get together with has Covid, so I called My 2 Cents. The restaurant was actually closed when I called but they took my order anyway and they even waited 25 minutes until I was able to get there. Not only did I love every bite, I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened the bag at home to find a carton of sweet cornbread that they threw in as a gift. While they weren’t able to make the shrimp and grits because the kitchen had already been shut down, based on the gumbo alone, I will be going back during regular hours to try their shrimp and grits. I highly recommend anytime you want something delicious to eat and don’t feel like cooking, this is one place you should try."

"I loved all the foods there.. all the main dishes and even the new England clam chowder. I would recommend the people I know near DTLA area. Besides their to go packaging is pretty neat and clean for this COVID19 life."

"Walking into Annie’s I felt like I was welcomed by family. The front lady who took our order was wonderful and helpful. She recommended the 2 piece chicken. I got the hot which has a kick but edible (not too hot). She asked if it was our first time which it was for me and walked into the kitchen. She came back with 2 free drinks for me and my friend. It goes without saying the food was delicious. For sides I got the Mac and cheese, potato salad and my favorite - the fried Brussel sprouts! I will definitely be returning when I’m craving fried chicken again!!"

"Excellent service. The fried chicken is true to the business name Delicious! Delicious Southern Cuisine at the Dunbar is a classy place. A must try! PS: I'm halfway through my meal. Sorry, forgot to take the photo prior to eating."

"Roscoe’s on Pico is a tasty and reliable option that I would, and do recommend to anyone who likes waffles or fried chicken. I recently drove up for lunch from Orange County on two occasions. I ordered a piece of chicken, several waffles, and a “Sunrise” (1/2 OJ, 1/2 Lemonade). The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. It tasted consistent as ever. The service was friendly and welcoming from every employee I interacted with inside and outside the building. I have regularly experienced this level of service here. I grew up near this location and came with my Dad and brother many times when I was younger. I hope the decorations and lighting in the building never change because of how much it reminds of of my pops and the family time we shared there. Thank you Roscoe’s team members for taking care of this incredible restaurant over the years."

"It's always a good experience. My compliments to the cooks. I had smothered chicken, red beans and rice and corn with tomatoes and zucchini in it,so good. Big portions. 2 can eat off one dinner plate."

"You can smell the deliciousness as you drive by, that alone should give you reason to stop. The portions are big so I'd recommend the lunch combo with 2 sides. The fried chicken with greens & mac & cheese are amazing! I'd also recommend the fried fish, mashed potatos, black eyed peas & peach cobbler. If you ordered ahead you can wait at their pick up window around the corner from Crenshaw entrance."

"Lovely variety of juices . I didn’t order any food here but the place was packed. The atmosphere was good and service is nice . My green juice was just lovely and they give you 1 cup of your juice (full to the top) and another cup full with ice. Wow thank you ."

"I love the art on the outside of the building! The most important part is the fish. Personally I get the Mrs. the fishes since I’m veggie tarian, but the food always smells delicious. She tells me that the jumbo shrimp is amazing, and I casually believe her. I eat her fries and I become addicted to the seasonings. All in all it’s a cultural spot that is worth it."

"The atmosphere is eclectic and the food is bomb.com The fried chicken was seasoned nicely and quite crispy. The Mac and cheese was very good (quite cheesey). The candied yams was a bit undercooked and too sweet but the star of the show were the DEVILED EGGS!!!! The filling was a zesty flavorful kind of spicy delight! My friends said the brisket, red beans and rice were delicious. I'm going back for the black eyed peas fritter. I would highly recommend going during early during the weekday to avoid needing reservations. They stay booked. There is only street parking which is why I highly recommend going early on a weekday or early weekend if you can't do weekdays. The service is great!"

"Omg they are so good. I Drove an hour to come try this spot. And I’m glad I did. I had the creole pasta with a side of French bread. Also seafood gumbo and there chicken wings. Everything was so tasty and very seasoned. I’m just moving from the south and it’s hard to find a good restaurant who season’s food. I definitely will be back. Also nice and friendly customer service. The young man was very helpful and patient when ordering our food."

"The best soul food in the city. Beyond healthy portions. The greens are solid and the ox tail is worth the price of admission. Check em out and don't let the haters in the reviews throw you off. I went with the sirloin tips and the smothered pork chop today. Everything on the menu is bomb AF. Unless you're really hungry these plates are good for two meals."
