This was a fantastic, educational and valuable class. Material was good, instructions were excellent, roll play was super helpful, and I feel confident that I am ready and mentally prepared to offer assistance in and emergency. Jazmyne was a fabulous instructor who answered all our questions and went above and beyond to make sure we feel confident and comfortable with all the material. Thank you!

After researching and doing my due diligence in finding the right gym, I'm so glad to have found th Planet Oakland. In a span of less than a year, I went from a clueless observer to a casual hobbyist and now to a medaling competitor in beginner tournaments! This journey is only possible because of Head Instructor Mike's vision for a top jiu jitsu academy, dedication to his students and their progress, and extensive knowledge of techniques and the sport. Caring and Expert Instructors! Head Instructor Mike holds deep and extensive Jiu Jitsu knowledge. The impressive and direct Jiu Jitsu lineage alone is proof that I'm learning from the very very best, but Mike takes it a step further by slowing things down to help students more easily digest techniques. His fellow instructors hold the teaching values in humility, compassion, and patience. Supportive and Caring Environment! The community Mike has built in the gym is truly special. Each student has their own Jiu jitsu ambition (to get fit, to compete, or just to learn about the martial arts), but we all support each other in reaching their goals. Mike sets the tone in making the gym a welcoming environment, and the friendly students make the classes so much more fun. Clean Gym! Mike, the fellow instructors, and even students take pride in keeping the mats, leisure area, bathrooms, and shower disinfected and polished every day. I deeply appreciate the cleanliness because I noticed by visiting other gyms that it is not commonly a top priority. BONUS! Mike has great relationships with current and previous top level competitors. He's invited ICONS of the game for seminars. Most recently, Alan Sanchez (top in his weight class), Kristian Woodmansee (multiple time champions at the highest level), Ben Eddy (Combat Jiu Jitsu Champion) shared their wisdom. Previous seminars include: EDDIE BRAVO, RICHIE MARTINEZ, and CRAIG JONES.

I was lucky to find out about Lucy through a Facebook group recommendation. I had wanted to introduce my kids (age & ) to proper salsa dance instruction for a while so got them booked for a min lesson with her in her gorgeous studio. mins in they already had the basic step down and by the end of the session they had learned a few different moves and can now properly dance together!! A Mama’s dream come true :-). They had so much fun with her easy style and we are coming back for another session soon!!

When it comes to self defense there is only two things you need to know…striking and grappling. And you can learn both styles Muay Thai Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu at Bravo Zulu. Coach Nick is great! And great with kids. My son who is thirteen been taking class there and loving it. Great exercise and building character. If you looking something for yourself or for the kids, I’d recommend checking out Bravo Zulu.

This was my first time taking a CPR class with no physical instructor and other people in the room. Overall, it was a little weird, but it was a good experience. Saved a lot of time. Location was very nice and there was parking at the location. Will be back in 2 years.

I highly recommend Eyal for drum lessons. He’s a wonderful teacher who tailors his approach to the needs and styles of his students. He’s been working with my son who is 7 for about a year. He finds creative ways to keep my son engaged in the 1 hour lessons, by connecting to my son’s interests and musical tastes. As a teacher myself, with a Masters degree in education, I know great teaching when I see it, and Eyal is a great teacher.

Great atmosphere, staff truly care about you and are passionate about teaching and have tons of knowledge to share. I strongly recommend to check this place out.

Adriana is a wonderful teacher! She is patient, knowledgeable, and has a wonderful sense of humor. She's willing to let you study what you want but also keeps you on track to learn the theory and technical skills. I would highly recommend for any level of guitarist!
