Small classes, high quality personal training

As a woman moving to a new city, I wanted to take a self defense class of some sort. I went to Balance Studios in Fishtown (HQ) and tried a beginner class and was obsessed from the start!! Phil and Rick are the owners and they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. All of the instructors are super experienced and helpful as well. As a woman I was intimidated at first, but after my first session they do an awesome job of making any new student feel comfortable. After a few months of training I could feel myself improving and it’s one of the most gratifying feelings! The studio is clean, and Phil, Rick, and all instructors do a great job of making sure everyone training is respectful and practicing with proper technique. Highly recommend!!!!

I am currently a student of Golden fist and I must say they welcomed me like family and they took on my challenge just as I have with me I am currently slightly paralyzed on my left side as a result of a stroke that I suffered in and with their help and instruction I am slowly moving up the ladder I am currently a yellow belt working hard to become an orange belt they are instilling in me a confidence that was lost because of my stroke I feel like I’m becoming the new and better me thanks to them God bless them pilsung

I never wrestled and was years old when I started at the original center city location and now mostly train at the new center city location. All of the instructors and my fellow students are respectful of my age, willing to teach me many things and roll with me. I am a blue belt but and hoping I have a purple belt in my near future. Many families practice together in both the junior and senior classes. The club offers instruction for both the Olympic hopeful and the recreational player.
