Japanese Restaurants in Chicago, Illinois, US.

"Enjoyed this so matcha Don’t be fooled. These matcha white chocolate chip cookies are from a Japanese Curry House @bokuchans who serves up a lot more than just cookies. Swipe for the Know Me Udon with beef, chicken katsu for the Otaku Kare veggies in the next pic, Confetti fries, and Japanese sodas and teas. All for @grabbdapp collab"

"delivery - still amazing and unexpectedly great! These dumplings are everything they should be. Great dumpling skin, great filling, great seasoning, flavor with depth and most of all, truly comforting!! They were able to use leek in their ingredients that I haven’t tasted since I left Taiwan, this made me think of home..! PS - re: owner’s note on compostable containers, it didn’t impact my experience! Sustainable is the way to go for me :)"

"They're back! Nomo Nomo (formerly the non-ramen half of Wasabi) serves up hyper-authentic (but often innovative), mind-blowingly delicious Japanese pub food. Everything here is excellent. Their kushiyaki (deliciousness on a skewer grilled over the hottest charcoal known to humanity) is life-changing. Their noodle dishes are soul-warming. Their sushi and sashimi are inspired and extremely fresh. There's also an assortment of menu items here that are near-impossible to find outside of a pub in Japan. I could go on, but you owe it to yourself to come here and try it for yourself. Simply put, this is my favorite restaurant in Chicago."

"My new favorite restaurant! There was a problem with my delivery because of "Grabhogg", but I was determined to try these succulent looking Bao, so I repeated my order. A few minutes later Ana herself called me to find out what happened and sent me a free Bao-nut for dessert! The second order arrived fast, beautifully sealed for my protection and everything inside was very delicious! Highly recommended!"

"This is my favorite sushi spot!! The ingredients are always so fresh and delicious and at a decent price. My boyfriend and I always get the dinner for 2 which is a perfect mix of apps and rolls, the tuna crunch is theee best. They’ve also added some great lunch specials and the owners are super sweet and helpful to top it off! Highly recommend!!"

"I've been to Shinobi 6 times during my short stay in Chicago. It is hands-down the best sushi place I've ever been to, and I've traveled a lot. The fish is the freshest, their rolls are so creative, and the cooks are always kind and helpful. When you eat in, the presentation is on par with the best sushi places in London or NYC, for 5 times less $. (the photo attached is take-away). Keep up the great work!"

"I was feeling done so I decided to order out for dinner and they gave me some biscuits on top of my order! It was a very pleasant surprise and made my day. The food was so so good, probably my favorite sushi place in Chicago! The food came very clean and well-packaged. When I crave sushi, I will definitely order out form here next time."

"I had such a fun experience here. Kumiko is a small restaurant with many 8 tables, and another 6 stools at the bar. Definitely make a reservation if you want to set foot in the place. I did not stay for the food so i cannot comment on that, but I will say the experience at the bar was fabulous! Sammy, the bartender, was very knowledgeable on all the cocktails and offered excellent recommendations. He even served me one of the drinks shaken in a coupe class vs over ice, because I was cold (miami native here). I highly recommend trying the New Wave cocktail. It has notes of curry- which sounds gross in a drink, but was actually delightful!"

"Got the 9pm Omakase for 5 on a Saturday night. Well worth it. Good sake pairings with a decent selection. The $125 price point is worth it, and to be frank, relatively inexpensive. Sake pairings were good. Staff is amazing. Be sure to check it out!"

"I'm glad I was willing to give this place a try. I went and ended up having an amazing night. The food was delicious (I didn't get any pics😑), the service was great, and the karaoke was a blast. I was overly impressed with how clean this place was, and absolutely love clean restrooms. The dinning area was also very clean and each table had its own bottle of hand sanitizer. I will definitely be going back. Definitely worth checking it out."

"Enjoy the small plate of squid. Really good size small dishes. I love the add-on options for ramen and of course the Ramen!! We loved the atmosphere, music, not a loud place. Small and cozy. Good sake drinks. Let’s put it like this, we passed several other places to get to this one and we don’t regret it! We will be back. Good work you guys, good service!!"

"I absolutely love this spot! I’ve ordered about 4 times from here and it’s been consistent every time. I recommend the sesame chicken rice bowl and I always pair it with the raspberry tea. Their Bao Donut is crispy yet delicate and fluffy on the inside. They hand write a note for every order and its such a nice gesture. Please give this spot a try, it’s a truly a gem."

"Great sushi both in the West Loop and here in the Loop Urbanspace. Had the spicy tuna and unagi maki’s. No wait, no fuss entree."

"A definite must visit location in Chicago. The food is good but the experience is everything. Its a lot of fun grabbing all the things you crave from the conveyor. You also have the option to order from the menu on a touch screen. Friendly and helpful staff if you have any questions or need help with the process. I highly recommend stopping by and checking them out."

"Decided to give this place a review during Chicago's restaurant week. I was able to try the $45 deal where I chose a total of 4 dishes. Everything was very flavorful overall and I was most impressed with the cabbage pancakes otherwise known as Okonomiyaki!"

"Delicious omakase! I dined in with two friends on a Tuesday night. We made a reservation 3-4 days in advance since it's a smaller, more intimate restaurant, having a reservation is important. Every course was amazing and perfectly timed. I'm not even a fan of wasabi but the way it was used in the dishes was delightful. The fish and oysters were incredible. Two of us had traveled from out of town and tried 10+ restaurants while in the city, yet we found this to be the most wonderful meal yet! We finished with a smoked anchovy ice cream and it was mind blowing. It sounds unappealing, I know, but it was perfect - from presentation to taste. One of the best meals of my life!"

"Super cute BYOB sushi place. They the most flavorful vegetarian sushi I've ever had. The service and atmosphere were great. It is a little crowded, so if you're able to make a reservation, I would recommend doing so."
