Organized a bachelorette that started the day here. Was perfect - such a cute space with fun decor. Had an amazing teacher that helped us to rally the bride. The class was easy to follow along and not too hard. Did these bridge lifts with bands that left our butts SO sore.
*Support Black-Owned Businesses* I have been putting off jumping back into working out since I have left the military. As a disabled veteran, it can be difficult to motivate myself to get into the things like exercise, etc. Last week I decided to go all in and I purchased the Vibranium membership ( classes & 2 Guest Passes/mo) and went to my first class on Mar . As of Mar I had only not gone one day (rest is important)! When you enter Harlem Cycle, you walk right into a cozy waiting area and shop that has water bottles, Beyonce-themed candles, healthy snacks, and more! The staff are incredibly kind and make a great effort to remember who you are. All of the items for sale are incredibly reasonable in price for the quality that you get. The workouts take you to the club, if the club happens to be up some very steep hills. I have now had 4 different people's classes and each one brings its own vibe, but that vibe is always a bop. As someone who /hates/ going to the gym because of the monotony, I really enjoy that I can get lost in the music and vibe while getting enthusiastic encouragement to push myself. Another nice thing is that there is no skill level requirement. The staff will help you set up your bike, and will constantly encourage you to listen to your body on how hard to push yourself. If you were wondering if you should give it a go, this is an excellent place to get your feet wet. I'm hooked and will likely be going 5x a week for the foreseeable future!
I went to a Gracie Jiu Jitsu Women Empowered self defense class at Ronin Athletics in NYC and really loved the structure of the class. It is clear that Christian is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about what he does as he teaches with patience, clear instruction, and a smile. Lora teaches the class alongside Christian ensuring each student gets individual attention on their technique. I recommend anyone to try it out as the environment was very welcoming and the techniques were appropriate for beginners and intermediates alike.
I have been going to sessions at UpFit since November and in just under 3 months I can already feel slight differences and improvements in my strength and stamina. The small group trainings are the perfect combination of 1:1 attention from trainers and a fitness class setting. You get a tailored experience for your specific goals, so while you're not doing the same workout as the person next to you, everyone is positive and encouraging to help you push yourself. That healthy peer pressure is something I personally find helpful. Going to an open gym with little direction and routine always left me feeling overwhelmed and frustrated, so if you are looking for a more disciplined workout and are ready to make the commitment and change for yourself, UpFit is a great choice to get you going.
My son has been rising through the ranks since the age of 3, and he really loves the instructors and has so much fun in class! He’s a giant ball of energy, and Master Kim, Master Park and all the instructors are so kind and encouraging! They have really helped him focus and channel his energy in a healthy and positive way. It is a great place to develop physical and mental discipline. My son’s confidence has grown tremendously as a result of Professional Taekwondo! We highly recommend it ❤️
Sometimes when you are walking to your intro-tour at big chain gym, you find something even better - which was exactly the case with TS Fitness. I found TS by luck, but am so happy I did, and left the other gym on read. The way TS is set up perfectly fits what I need in a fitness routine - I come in for the time slot/class I've chosen, and someone tells me exactly what to do, how many reps, and watches my form to make sure I'm doing it right. There's no guessing or pre-work for the session on my end. Plus, every member of the staff treats you like a friend - great personalities on top of excellent fitness/exercise science knowledge. Would recommend!
Hands down, the best gym ever! The owners and every single coach there is very passionate and extremely good at what they do. They are all very accessible for any questions you may have. Their feedback for you is super specific and helpful! The coaches also do the right level of nudging and teach you the right techniques for you to make progress. I went from lb dumbell shoulder press to eventually lb barbell shoulder press in 4 weeks (one of the several such examples I can give about their classes and coaches). The energy in every class is so contagious. I have been able to hit some personal bests and do some exercises that I have never imagined doing just in the last year or so. I should also say that I started at Trooper as a complete beginner for the type of training they offer and saw improvements week over week on all aspects of my training. The progress itself boosts your confidence and motivates you to set better goals for yourself. I am a very happy customer! Check out their classes, I am sure you will sign-up!
If you’re looking for personal training then I honestly don’t think there’s anything better than BUF in NYC. Just look at how many other 5 star reviews this place has. Everyone here is super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. It’s not boring at all. Everyone is easy to get along with and most of them are very funny. Before choosing BUF I searched far and wide for affordable and quality personal training programs. I obviously didn’t try all of them, but that’s mostly because they were expensive. On top of that, most personal trainers require you to have or purchase a separate gym membership, which is an additional cost. To be honest the main reason I chose BUF is because it was the most affordable option, and you pay as you go. It’s not like you’re paying upfront for a few months, or even a single month. I chose BUF because of the price but don’t let the affordability fool you. The level of quality I received is far beyond the price I paid. They have their own facility so no extra cost for a separate gym membership. And most of all, they were all fantastic at their jobs. If you’re serious about personal training, then give this a shot and you won’t be disappointed. If for some reason you don’t like it then hey, you pay as you go so you don’t really lose money if you decide it’s not for you. Give it a shot.
Fantastic taekwondo teachers who are great at leading fun classes for all ages. My child started at age 5 and has had such a blast for past two years. Younger kids have so much fun also. The classes are min for little ones, then increase to min. I love the values he's learning: respect, discipline, strength, patience and more. He is so determined to reach the next belt. I love that he's reaching for goals... and practicing some Korean :) they also host summer camp and parents night out, which i need to check out! I also feel safe as a covid conscious parent
I used to go to this gym a couple years ago before moving away. It is the best strength training gym I’ve gone to and unique in the level of care that the coaches/instructors provide. I felt safe learning to lift at this gym and learning how to safely lift. The coaches treat other people with kindness and empathy. I am thankful for the experience going to JDI Barbell and recommend it to anybody who lives in nyc who wants to learn how to lift or who wants to go to a different gym.
Champions is the best. My daughter has been a student for almost 2 years and she absolutely loves it. The instructors are super skilled professionals who also make classes fun. I've never seen her work so hard at mastering a skill. Master Wi and his team are the best.
Conbody - well, I have been coming here for a year now. These classes are like nothing I’ve ever done before. I love the challenge of my own body weight, HIIT style, minimal breaks. I’ve noticed improvement in my form for certain exercises in my time being here. If you are doing something Incorrect, the trainer will come over and help correct form. Also, they will give some modifications if the position is too difficult. I keep coming back because I’m challenged every time and I see results!! Love the dark lighting, especially at a 7am class. Music is good, depends on who’s teaching. All in all I’ve made good relationships with almost every teacher and I will always recommend this studio. DO THE TIME!!!!
The classes are fantastic and motivating! The instructors are incredibly helpful and offer adjustments/tips throughout the class. I've felt more energized and excited about my workouts since joining. % would recommend to any friend
The community is awesome. I have been working out a lot for many years, but haven’t ever been so happy. All trainers are genuinely enjoying why they are doing and are having fun while doing so. And everyone enjoys pushing their bodies in the best day possible. This creates an amazing atmosphere. Can’t recommend the Fort more!
Gianna is a great instructor who takes her time to watch and correct the form of her students. She optimizes innovative Muay Thai technique with traditional Muay Thai technique and really focuses on the beauty of the art. If you appreciate the aesthetic and function of combat, this is the place for you. Workshop is extremely beginner friendly, and a great place to learn pure fundamentals. Great atmosphere, awesome instruction, and a wonderful place to express yourself and gain confidence through Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu.
The programming is solid and thoughtful—tons of “clang and bang” workouts, of course, but also methodical strength training that builds up over the course of weeks. Classes are fun, and the coaching is top-notch. For intense workouts, classes are broken into heats, which means even more individual attention from the coaches. I usually work out during open-gym hours, of which there are lots (and during normal hours—a rarity in the city, at least). Videos for the entire warm-up sequence and individual movements are available on the app, which I find extremely helpful. Plus, Andrew is always around to explain, help devise substitutes, spot you, and just shoot the breeze. Only good vibes here!
Reversing the toll of a desk job / zoom lifestyle is something that's important to have a support system for, and getting quality personal training has been well worth it. Training with Anthony at X has been fantastic and I feel stronger and more balanced than I have in years. The space at X is small and welcoming too, which is much nicer than going to a mega gym.
As someone who took dance classes as a child, this is such a fun way to exercise! My instructor Deepa Liegel hit all the points. She broke down the combination throughout the class so we were warmed up and prepared to do the moves. The energy was upbeat and positive. There was enough challenge and personality in the piece, and she offered modifications so anyone could access it. As a bonus, she gave us background info on the style of ballet we were learning. I feel fortunate to take class at my level, from my apartment with such a talented instructor. I will be back!
I lost a lot of strength during seven weeks in the hospital (emergency surgery, then complications). Kristen did a thorough evaluation of me and developed an exercise program designed to address my problems. She also sent me an email showing how to do the exercises on my own. Paspa has been extremely helpful as I work to recover from the effects of my long hospital stay.
I love going to Lifespan. All the instructors are great, Cynthia is awesome, Leeju is wonderful, Nancy-Jean is great. The classes are so good and my body feels simply amazing and stronger after every session. Whatever type of body have the instructors will challenge and guide you to the best of your ability and with consistency of continual attendance your body will transform. That's how I always feel and much more. Love it there !
