I love this place. If you are a coin person, you probably know it (if you don't, you should). They do a good job of curating what they take in. I always find interesting and unusual stuff. For basic stuff,, furniture especially, you simply cannot beat the price you might pay. And because they use a weekly live Auction, it is Big Fun.
The owners of Antique Trader, Jack and Judy, are very honest, friendly and knowledgeable. They've helped me several times determining whether or not some of my "treasures" were marketable. Once while I was visiting the store I happened to mention to Jack that I had some coins that I thought might be collectible. Even though I knew that he didn't market coins, and probably would rather not deal with such a small item, Jack went out of his way to personally drive me to a nearby coin dealer that he knew was reputable. I was able to make a little spare cash selling my coin collection to that dealer. Above and beyond service from Jack! The Antique Trader is highly recommended if you have stuff you've inherited or acquired that you would like to sell and get the income rather than spending your time dusting the relics!
I highly recommend that anyone reading this NOT use David Osborne for an estate sale. I made the mistake of employing him to conduct an estate sale of my mother’s household goods, and months later, I have yet to receive a penny from David Osborne, even after my lawyer contacted him and asked for an update on the estate. David told my lawyer that he had sent a check to me. That was November . The check never arrived. On July 6, , I signed the Exclusive Sales Representative Agreement David provided, and I was looking forward to sales of between $K as David had estimated. I heard nothing from David until I emailed him on or about September 6 to ask about the status of the sales. David wrote, “Sales to date are about $4, net. The remainder will be sold at auction Oct at our antique auction. Should be around another $2, or so net.” I was shocked at the difference between $K gross and approximately $6K net. I responded, “I am surprised by the net sales. As I recall, when we sat in Mom’s living room, you estimated the sales at $K gross. Why do you think the figures are so far apart?” According to my email records, David did not respond to my query. After consulting with the estate lawyer, I followed-up with an email Thursday, September , , which read, “In my last email, I asked about reasons for the gap between your estimated sales of $K and the $6K you now expect. As I recalled, you said that you kept a list of everything sold and what it sold for. I would like to see that list. Anything that would help me explain the gap between estimated sales and realized sales would be helpful. Thanks.” On the same day, David responded by email, “Will send Monday or Tuesday with analysis of sales to date.” I waited for the “analysis of sales to date” that David promised, but it never came. In a telephone conversation with the estate lawyer, David said that he had emailed me a packet of receipts and a check, but the estate lawyer told David I never received it, and counseled David to either fax the receipts to him or email scans of the documents to me with a copy to the lawyer. Neither I nor the estate lawyer has received anything from David about the sale since the lawyer’s November , email to him. David also left household goods in my mother’s garage, even though he said that he would dispose of them. In short, David misrepresented himself and still owes the estate money.
We hired DGB for an estate sale and I was truly impressed. We vetted several other companies and decided working with Brad was the best fit. The estate they took care of was a tough one. The owner was a bit of a hoarder and had more possessions and items that one one normally have. I tried to clean out the house myself and was quickly frustrated. Brad and his team came in and worked quickly and efficiently and maintained their timelines and commitments. They were honest and had excellent integrity. I was thrilled with the service we received and would HIGHLY recommend them to anybody looking for an estate company.
Kelly is the best. The first time I went to see her, I had done no shopping around. When I told her what I wanted to do, it took her minutes to help me put together the perfect custom ring for my fiancée. I told her that I loved what we had come up with but wanted to shop around to compare her prices to other jewelers. She smiled and encouraged me to do so. Her service and pricing absolutely blew every jeweler I spoke to out of the water. We went back to Kelly for Tara’s (my wife to be) wedding ring and my own. Both are perfect. It’s an absolute joy to work with Tender Loving Carats (Deidra is also great) and I recommend them to anyone who is looking to buy extremely high quality jewelry at fantastic prices in a % stress free environment.
