The 10 Best African Restaurants near me in Austin, Texas

African Restaurants near me in Austin, Texas, US.

"Amazing home cooked food, the Jolloff rice is fresh and I love the spice levels. Strong tomato taste with a lingering beautiful peppery taste, long grained rice. The hen is fresh, the white meat is tender with authentic west Africa taste. The salad is expected, it has a clean and crispy from the snap of the peas."

"What a magnificent chef! Her personal presence is a charm but nothing can prepare you for the feast, and the fight she brings to your tastebuds! Amazing food and great vibe.👏👏 Love the online ordering feature and ability to represent a true Kenyan cuisine! This is a must try 💯"

"Wow! This is a hidden gem in Austin. Both owners are incredibly kind and clearly very passionate about serving delicious food and getting to know their customers. We had a wonderful chat with them about Morocco and loved the chill Moroccan vibe of the restaurant. Both of our dishes were incredibly tasty and we cannot wait to come back. This place is a must try!"

"This place is fantastic. The food is delicious, and the owner is unbelievably nice. I've never had this style of food before, so my friend ordered for me. The owner knew him, so brought out extra food to thank him for introducing so many new people to the trailer. Portions are huge, and the flavors are fantastic. Nicely spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. It kind of looks like Mexican food, but with a uniquely different flavor. The tomato-based sauce is delicious, and my friend has been trying to recreate it at home. He's gotten close, but hasn't quite succeeded. Highly recommend checking out."

"Incredibly friendly and easy to love, this is an amazing food truck. The menu is very vegetarian-friendly, but the meat is excellent and totally worth it if you're not veg-only. The spices are complex and optionally quite piquant, and even the small, inexpensive plates are belly-filling feasts."

"Selam Cafe has a perfect sized international market and great menu items for lunch/ dinner… big portions and fair prices, thank you Sitota and friends!"

"Went here today at the new relocation at (1112 E. 11th St.) in the pouring rain. There was of course no one else at the location so there was very little waiting. This is a food trailer for those that don't already know so there is no option for inside dining. I had a very old expired Groupon that now only held the $8 purchase value so I had it on my calendar to use it today. I got the number 62 "Chicken meat served with jollof rice, topped with mild Benin sauce. with the Spinach side" The food was good, well seasoned and hit the spot on grey and rainy day. Its a bit out of the way for an office lunch track so don't know if I'll be heading back any time soon but maybe I'll take the wife some weekend if she's up for some African Cuisine."

"Great store! Good selection! My husband and I bought some spices. Definitely coming back! Maybe for some goat and catfish 😄"

"I came here because my friend recommended it, and omg it was too good ! It’s original Nigerian cuisine, and the owners are sooo kind !"

"Top Notch Local restaurant serving Fine West African Cuisine--My Favorite. I've had Egusi Soup as well as Pepper Soup each served with my favorite, Pounded Yam. Feeling Healthy & Well this morning. I Recommend!"

"Had the lamb burger and was blown away. Excellent flavours and excellent service. Some of the best food truck fare I've had in Austin. These guys fully hold their own even with a truck right next to the always delicious Veracruz. Given a choice in the future, I'll always opt to explore Cazamance's menu."

"This food is absolutely delicious and the portions are healthy and BIG. I’ve tried many Nigerian restaurants but this by far is the absolute BEST in Austin. The food isn’t overly seasoned and everything is cooked WELL. Absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to order again!"

"Ordered Jollof with goat meat. Egusi with Wheat pounded yam. Extra plantian. Suya. Everything so delicious I ordered another round to-go. AND returned the next day. Glad to find a place my relatives will respect. 🙌🏿🇳🇬 Great service as well ☺️."

"Wow just wow. The drinks, the food, so good. Cool decor and great service the pineapple fried rice was some of the most delicious food I’ve ever had - spicy, sweet, savory all at once."
