Here are some reviews from our users.
"Had no idea this place was here! So many cute cats and many hungry geese and squirrels…they seem to all get along and even share. Who knew!"
"We went for a spontaneous trip to Roosevelt Island and came across the sanctuary. The sanctuary had a few cats and geese. During our visit we met Rosanna who works as a volunteer there and gave us a lecture on wild geese. Most geese had wing deformities called 'angel wings' which is caused by humans feeding bread to waterfowls and geese. The conversation with her was very educational and we learned things we didn't know. With that being said we're pleading to anyone not to feed geese bread or anything at all as it will cause irreparable damage to their wings!"
"Sadly it looks like the only CAT you'll see there now is the construction kind. It seems the shelter and much of the natural flora was callously destroyed to make way for more concrete, instead of something more harmonious with nature. Update: upon Ken's return trip, he noticed that there is still a standing shelter closer to the FDR park. So you may still be able to find cats!"
"I think that cat sanctuary is cool idea, but the foundation is more concerned with blocking access to the waterfront. They are the reason that the walking and biking path through Southpoint Park is still a vine-filled route that is blocked off from the waterfront, rather than the lovely waterfront promenade that we have north of the park."
"Cats chilling under the sunlight, I could stay there staring at them for hours!"
