"Upscale oyster bar and seafood restaurant located in the heart of downtown San Diego. The atmosphere is rustic yet bright and airy. In addition to the variety of oysters, they also serve creative dishes including a “sushi nacho” creation that was unique and yummy. This place fills up fast on the weekends, so be sure to get reservations."
"Absolutely the best Chilean sea bass I have ever had. The service was incredible. The waitress made suggestions based on my taste and she was dead on. I highly recommend."
"5 star food, 5 star waitress, 1 star hostesses. Hence 3 stars. End of February. Great food and service and the hostesses were snotty to the point that I almost didn't want to dine there. It felt like my kind was not welcomed. I had a reservation for one person and they said they would call me or text me when the table was ready. There were obviously tables available and seats at the bar. No one did and I had to go back and ask half an hour later at pm. Apparently they didn't care for my reservation or the fact I was waiting outside. Later I called to check if I left my credit card there and no one called me back. Meal was worth the $ I spent but the front end service was not."
"One of my all time favorite dining experiences of my life. The outdoor seating at night sets this place above other’s nearby. The food was simple yet elegant. Bar drinks were well served and very tasty."
"I don't go to San Diego very often, but when I do, I always to Water Grill. My husband and I had a fabulous pre-Elle King th anniversary dinner here February , . It was as delicious as the pre-covid January dinner I remembered. The service is beyond compare. Richard G., our server, and Trevor B., the manager on duty, were attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous. They were both really nice, interesting people who made us feel like they were happy we were there. Trevor offered to take out photo together for our anniversary and arranged for a special dessert we unfortunately didn't have time to take him up on. We tried a signature drink, the Sixth & J (also their address). The description - vodka, strawberries, lemon, and tarragon on the rocks - doesn't do justice to the combination of flavors. The strawberry and lemon really pop, and the sweetness is offset by the anise-like tarragon flavor. The food is amazing. We got Kumamoto oysters and Peruvian scallops to start, and they were served quickly on a crushed ice filled pewter tray. It's a bit of an art to serve oysters that fresh and cold with bright mignonettes that complement the briny taste, and they pulled it off like they did before. Smoked hamachi nachos were next, very thin and cruncy yucca chips topped with slices of hamachi and paprika with a bright limey vinaigrette and crunchy Marcona almonds. The only smoky flavor came from the paprika, which also lent a bit of heat that nicely balanced the citrus and richness of the hamachi. I absolutely recommend it and look forward to returning. @lifeinaskillet @montereybayblog"
