Owner really cares about the reptiles and did a great job telling us about each one with an obvious passion. It rained while we were there so he had to rush through the outside portion of the exhibit. We will go again so we can enjoy the outside portion some more. He felt bad but it isn't his fault it rained! We enjoyed our experience!

This place is great. I'd passed on going there for a long time, thinking it was Texas Reptiles, it's not. There is a fantastic selection from all over the world. Boas, Pythons, several different kinds of Cobras, several different kinds of Monitor lizards, huge Geckos, various turtles, a Nile Crocodile & more. Some are in breeding programs. They were almost all out, not on the other side of a hole in the back wall like in most zoos, and several who come when they're called. They come out to see you !

Despite having read the great reviews prior to coming, I hadn’t expected the Texas Reptile Zoo to be such a wonderful experience. Each animal really did have its own personality. The owner was clearly very passionate, and he showed us some crocodile and tortoise feedings. This place is such a hidden gem in Bastrop. I will definitely come again in the summer.

We visited TRZ the first week of moving to Bastrop. We had such a great time! By sheer luck, we arrived shorty before the scheduled feedings and I’m so glad we did. It was a cool learning experience for our 4 year to witness how everything has to eat. I was so impressed with how active the reptiles were and I absolutely loved the Afghan tortoises. This is definitely a place we would bring visitors but I wouldn’t even need an excuse to visit again. Highly recommended!

The Texas Reptile Zoo is a hidden gem in Bastrop! The facility is family owned and operated. The owners are very friendly, informative and engaged with their guests. I was especially impressed by the high level of animal activity in each exhibit!! (There were not any sleepy, hidden animals to be found there! Fantastic!) It was interesting to see that every habitat was hand crafted to replicate the natural enviornment that each particular animal thrives in, contributing to animal activeness. The zoo is in it's first few years of operation and it is really neat to see the creative renovations the owners have been making onsite. I am looking forward to bringing my family back over the years to watch this zoo continue to expand and grow!
