"Hmmm. I didn't know I was allowed to visit inside with it all boarded up. Great potential for someone to rehab and turn into a cafe on the trail with lots of bike and running traffic. I would have loved to grab a smoothie here ... Tricycle cafe around the corner is doing brisk business throwing a banana in some fruit juice and blending it. Shawmont Station could give them competition and be more visible to the trail traffic!"

"Really not much to see at the station itself -- just an abandoned train station building that has not been kept up unfortunately. This is a popular spot for bicyclists to park because you can hop on the Schuylkill River Trail from here. The Manayunk Tow Path also ends here heading east which is packed gravel, and this is the start of the paved trail heading west. Parking is fairly easy to find along the street since it's a dead end."
