I had an appointment, and got in right on time. Everything was streamlined and incredibly organized, which I really appreciated. It made the experience much more pleasant. However, one woman working there was unnecessarily rude to everyone she interacted with, even when they were extremely kind and polite to her. She yelled at my husband when he wasn’t allowed to come back to the testing area with me (he didn’t try to or ask to), snapped at me when I asked a clarifying question, and was not kind to anyone else that I witnessed. I get that it’s probably an unpleasant place to work, and had a customer been rude first, I think it would’ve been justified! But there’s no need to be rude for no reason. Her behavior really made this an unpleasant and stressful experience. Unfortunately, I didn’t get her name. Everyone else working there that I interacted with was perfectly pleasant.

The woman taking the pictures on March 1 ,2022 is very rude she speaks to everyone as they are her children. Very rude and disrespectful. She should not be working In customer service at all. She did not let anyone know when the picture was being taken. She needs a different position or none at all. Thanks to everyone else working there they are wonderful. Please ask others around I’m sure the employees have complained about this woman she is so loud and rude.

I arrived early Tuesday morning to acquire an ID card and I was out within the hour. There was a small line at the door when I showed up, but it only lasted five minutes or so. The staff was mostly pleasant and helpful. It helps if you make an appointment in advance, which is very easy to do on-line.

This place is a mess. I've dealt with a number of DMVs around the country, but California's is by far the worst. The website is confusing and doesn't give clear instructions. When you get there, they are so disorganized. The employees all seem jaded and unable to articulate clear instructions. The signage is also confusing as well. They need to start differentiating the different customers when they walk up to the building (those with appointments, those who got in line via the website, and those who are walk-ins). The employees seem to get frustrated with the customers, but it was clear to me that a lot of this confusion would be eliminated if they were just better at doing their jobs and explaining the processes, requirements, etc. A lot of people would love the privilege of being an incompetent, underworked and overcompensated California State employee. The least they could do is be grateful and try to be pleasant and helpful.
