"Best dance studio in San Diego! I started with no dance experience and now I’m able to go out and actually dance with confidence! It’s all thanks to Patrick, Diana and everyone else who teaches at Melomano. They treat everybody with respect and make you feel like family."
"I've been taking classes at Melomano for about a year now. The teachers are excellent, and the environment is very friendly. I've made great friendships, I've learned new patterns, and I've enhanced my dancing technique. They offer different class levels, for example they currently have two beginner levels, one level for people with no dancing experience and another for those who are closer to intermediate levels. They also offer dancing cycles with focus on technique and footwork at multiple different levels. They also hold socials frequently, which is fun and a great place to practice. Finally, by registering for a cycle (Bachata or salsa) which cost $, we have unlimited access to all classes (Bachata and Salsa) of all levels! I highly recommend this place."
"I love salsa and bachata, I wish this place had merengue fitness classes I used to take those in Los Angeles and San Francisco they were so much fun, The reason I gave two stars is because one of the dance teachers Analisa is really Unhelpful in class, I don't know why they have her teaching or assisting she's not a good dancer and moreover she's not a good person, very cold unhelpful person. After my membership expires I'm moving on to a different Dance studio."
"The reason I gave three stars is because there's some bad vibes going on in class, But overall ofcourse I love salsa and bachata and merengue..... The Good vibes are coming from Diana the wife she is an excellent teacher, and she takes you step by step, and she's warm and inviting and very talented. the dance studio is roomy and comfortable, there's plenty of parking in the parking lot, although the location is kind of way out of the way but then on the other hand that's connected to another awesome studio, but the downside is the assistant instructor Analisa and Patrick do not make a good combo and Analisa is just full of bad vibes, unfriendly, uncaring and should not be working around people not at all no way.... No no..... /Patrick is an excellent dancer but he does not know how to teach a beginning class he's constantly throwing in very advanced moves and he really seems to be bored with what he's doing and he doesn't want to teach a beginning class, they really need like a third partner to go in there and teach the beginning class because he won't do it, he keeps throwing in advanced moves and he makes a beginner's class feel very uncomfortable, he also seems "burnt out"... Anyway I hope they fix their issues so my friends and I can start taking classes again"
"Let's start with the reasons to go: lots of classes, active community, easy parking, big studio, and the people running the business are friendly. If you're an experienced dancer or have some foundation on the classes they teach, then this might be a good fit for you. This is why the rating is three stars even though I had a one star experience. I have no foundation in dance and have not danced since the beginning of the pandemic in any form. I really wanted to find a studio to dance at multiple nights a week, so I signed up for two beginner classes and was excited to see so many people show up. My excitement quickly disappeared during the warm up when the teacher called many steps that were well beyond beginner level, not to mention four different turns - without explanation. To the teachers credit, he did eventually explain the turns during the footwork practice, but never explained the details at a beginner level once partner work started. The follows I danced with explained that since so many intermediate and advanced students showed up, the teacher was teaching an intermediate class. I was unable to follow along and felt humiliated. As nice as the follows were, they were clearly disappointed that I couldn't keep up or lead. I tried to collect myself before the next class started, but ultimately decided the price of the class wasn't worth another hour of feeling humiliated. Strongly advise beginners without a solid foundation in dance find another studio."
