What's not to love about this Wagner Farm?! After visiting other farms in the north/ northwestern suburbs, Wagner's farm feels so much more organic to m e. While Zebras, Camels and Giraffes are awesome to see up close, and pony rides are fun for the kids, these added attractions can also make the farm-to-table experience feel more like a trip to Kiddie Land (If you know what that is, you're showing your age, just like I did, ha). Visiting Wagner Farm felt like I was visiting the family farm of an old friend. I fell in love with two of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen. They weren't in stalls, they weren't chained to an oscillating horsey merry-go-round. They were unsaddled and grazing freely along the pasture side. The chicken house was authentic as was seeing the cows roam freely through the grassy knoll (if you don't see the cows along the trail, you might find them grazing along the perimeter of the farm). Granted, Wagner Farm is in the middle of a residential area so the...

A working farm just outside the city limits! Wagner Farm is a great place to bring the kids. Take a look inside the open chicken coop, walk around and enjoy the horses and general store or go inside for a tour of the inner-workings of the farm in its heyday. There is a community garden that allows the neighborhood to reserve a patch to grow and harvest vegetables, herbs, etc. This is such a fun, educational and family-friendly place to visit in the fall and pick out your favorite pumpkin or give the kids a first-hand look at how and where their food really comes from. Worth a visit.

Built in 1850’s, the farm is currently managed by Glenview Park District and the farm is still functional. There is a huge parking lot opposite the farm( need to cross the road). They sell fresh eggs here. Lovely place to spend time, and enjoying the farm life.

Granted, Wagner Farm is in the middle of a residential area so the pastures don't stretch on for acres and acres. But it is a functioning farm that provides farm-to-table produce for those in the community. Seeing a stretch of tilled soil reminded me that taking care of the earth was all of our responsibility and that farming was as close to our purpose as one could get. A key bonus is that the farm is open to the public and free of charge. You get the experience of farm life at a price that seems to good to be true. Whether you're in the burbs or the City, do yourself and the children in your life a huge favor- visit Wagner Farm as soon as possible. And don't worry about missing the warm season. They'll save you a seat on the next hayride out!!!"
