"Don't bother using geek squad at this location. Horrible customer service. Untrained staff. They wanted to keep my computer for 3 months after "looking at the issue". Decided to take my computer to a local computer shop and they fixed the issue in under minutes and didn't even charge me for it!"
"I spent an hour on the phone was transferred to 3 different departments just to see how much it would cost to fix a TV I bought from them only to be told they don't fix stuff unless I am a member and pay $ for membership plus $ for repair."
"They didn't listen when I told them what was wrong with my computer, did a "repair" that didn't fix a thing and sent it back to me, then when I sent it back in to them they kept it for months before finally deciding they couldn't fix it and offering me a replacement. Their customer service was completely unable or unwilling to do anything to fix their mistake, and was even rude at times. When looking for ways to solve my problem, I googled around and even found an article called "Confessions of a Former Geek Squad Geek" and they said the "Geeks" are primarily trained to upsell customers on more and more services, but receive little to no training on actually fixing devices. This seemed to match up with my experience. If you ignore my advice and use Geek Squad or their protection plan, make sure you document everything they ever tell you, including the names and titles/positions of who told you. Record any phone calls with them if you can. One person will tell you something and another will deny it so you will have to argue with them. They did something similar to me when I was younger when the person who sold me the Xbox said that I'd be able to use the protection plan to upgrade to the came out. When I tried to do that, the person at the store that day said that wasn't true and asked me who told me that. Since I didn't remember their name, they wouldn't honor it. I swore then that I would never shop at Best Buy again, but I guess after so many years I thought there was a chance they had changed. They haven't. Seriously, don't shop at Best Buy if you can avoid it. If you must, never get Geek Squad protection. There are 3rd party companies that will offer better coverage for cheaper."
"Best Buy at the Plant in San Jose. I walked in with a Lenovo all in one with a broken screen. Even though they did not fix these they answered all my questions patiently and fully. When asked if they would be able to transfer data they offered to plug it into another monitor to see if the data could be accessed and it worked. I walked out with a solution and they did not ask for a dime. Service like this makes me want to come back and pay for a service. THANK YOU GEEKS!!!"
