"I just tried to talk to someone to get in there the security guard was rude as hell. Act like he don't care if your looking for help. No other members of staff was there. I'm victim of domestic violence And sleeping in my cab. I guess the don't believe in helping a man who is trying to help himself"
"I've been staying here at the mission since March and they go over and beyond with love support and help today is memorial day and the volunteers are catering to us. This my first experience being in a shelter and I feel more safe looked after and cared for then all my years even from blood family I am truly blessed for God bring me here to take the time to regroup and reevaluate my life path. I totally recommend anyone in need put a side your pride and get the help you need especially when there's good places and people here to give it. This mission helps families, recovering addicts, men and women"
"My mother & I are new to OKC but we've been homeless for 3yrs now! We started the process at the city rescue mission yesterday, and it was really hot in the area we were waiting in. And we were scared and nervous about staying there, as well as being worried about our vehicle. So we left, but we had an assessment appointment today. We went back! But as soon as we got there, we were told we had to wait a week!! Just because we left yesterday. That's absurd and childish, you call this helping. I'm definitely not going back there."
"The staff really does a awesum job, very friendly and the food they serve the clients is so yummy. Anitra is a awesum chef ❤"
"I was trying to check in sometime in and they left me waiting to meet with someone to fill out an application and I was there for almost an hour unattended. I also suffer with mental health issues which affects how I act in large public settings. Social anxiety, bipolar, paranoia etc. And it's unfair that when it comes to my experience in Oklahoma's approach to homelessness its always less than satisfying. I've literally had to leave my own home state to seek proper significant help for myself. Oklahoma is bad place to face homelessness and poverty and mental health issues. I'd strongly suggest Florida or California over Oklahoma any day. I mean Edmond would be a good place to seek work but they kind of frown on poor people there. Makes the people of Edmond uncomfortable to actually see and witness suffering. That and they kind of look at you like you're disease . Again. This shelter sucks , if you don't meet curfew they throw your belongings away and kick you out anyways. Might as well stay on the streets. Out of sight out of mind is the Oklahoma approach to homelessness."
