"To begin, i am well aware waiting is necessary due to short staff. But unfortunately it was a very negative experience. We had to wait minutes to have order taken. And that was only because we stopped a waiter for them to take our order. Nolan didnt ask how the check would be, which caused further problems at the end of the meal. It smelled like burnt toast for a majority of the time. We ordered fried pickles which were burnt. So burnt they were inedible. The chicken soup tasted like a can of cream of chicken with some noodles added. I ordered the sly scottie. And honestly it tasted like Thanksgiving dinner mixed together into one bite. While the idea sounds interesting, the bread was soggy, the cranberry tasted like jam, and the turkey was turkey deli meat combined with a flavorless steamed broccoli. When ready to leave we didnt want to wait for our check and Angie checked us out. The new system couldnt split the check. Honestly, a very bad experience. And we certainly werent the only ones. A gentleman had to get up twice to hand the waiter his cup for a refill. Another group was complaining because they had to wait minutes before receiving their check. Thats why we didnt wait. Organization was a big part to why things didnt go smoothly. Another great idea was to have kids toys to keep them occupied. But they arent cleaned after theyre played with. This restaurant seems to have great ideas....but they arent executed well. And the food definitely needs some work."
"Service was great,! The food was not, served old fried chicken, the meat was grey in color and had a funk smell to it. The Mac and cheese tasted more like flour than anything else. The Calabash shrimp wrap had brown lettuce in it,not wilted from the cooked temperature of the shrimp, wilted will still be green, this lettuce was brown. The corn bread was very good. The restaurant is cute, very welcoming, cozy. Work on the food, you can do better."
"Probably the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life, along with great customer service. Got a real homestyle feel to it. The owner was so nice and offered toys to play with for my two year old. Definitely a winner in my book."
"We enjoyed our Chicken pita and Philly cheesesteaks. We both ordered a salad as our side. Wonderful Greek Vinaigrette. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. Cashier was bubbly and friendly. If you are one complaining about lack of masks - stay home then. My only beef with this was the cost. 2 sandwiches with a choice of side should not be $! We tipped $6 so a total of $ for 2 sandwiches is just absolutely outrageous! I get times are tough but surely not $/a sandwich tough. I get they might be trying to get through such a tough time but I won’t be returning with prices like this for a sandwich and side. Hurting the customer with these sort of prices."
"Yesterday, my wife and had lunch at the Charlotte Cafe. We have eaten here many times as well as the former location at the Park Road Shopping Center. When we entered we noticed the wait staff was not wearing masks and many of the customers entering after us also did not have on masks. Even the owner and a couple of his friends, who were not eating, were not wearing masks. We asked the cashier when we were paying about this and she said “they” weren’t checking anymore and everyone was just sick of wearing masks. I assume she meant the health department. We will never go back."
