The oldest restaurant in Colorado, issued the very first liquor license, as well. It's like an old brothel/salloon, that was transformed into an insane taxidermy museum. The food is fantastic, but o...

Here are some reviews from our users.

"The oldest restaurant in Colorado, issued the very first liquor license, as well. It's like an old brothel/salloon, that was transformed into an insane taxidermy museum. The food is fantastic, but one might feel overwhelmed eating beef and buffalo, with them staring you down, while dining. Definitely NOT a place to bring your vegetarian or vegan date."

"One of my favorite restaurants in all of Colorado! I loved my experience. This is one of the oldest buildings in Denver. One can feel this lost era of old Colorado by eating in here. Everything is so clean, intentional, and purposeful. Also, the food was absolutely incredible. It was the first time we had bison steaks and Rocky Mountain oysters. The flavor and taste was only heightened by the aesthetic of the establishment. One owes it to themselves to check out this historical steakhouse, especially the second floor! Will come back again!"

"This place is one of the most iconic restaurants in Denver. I believe, if I remember correctly, it is the oldest restaurant in Denver. It is a great place to try rocky mountain oysters. They also have other exotic meats, like elk and bison. When I went, it was pretty good, but my bison was a little dry. The rocky mountain oysters were interesting and I'll leave it at that 😆 There are a bunch of different wild animals mounted on the wall, which is pretty cool. The place is kind of fancy and pricey. So that's something to keep in mind. Overall, this place is very old and iconic and a good place to try rocky mountain oysters and other exotic meats that are prevalent in Denver."

"We went for a dinner date on Saturday. This was my first dining in with them, but there's no denying the history behind this restaurant as well as the menu. The rocky mountain oysters are definitely a must try! We also ordered the bison prime rib and elk with a side of buffalo barley soup. All fantastic choices! You seriously can't go wrong with the food here. Jake was our server, and had a lot to say about the restaurant and the food. Very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of during our dining experience (he definitely sold us on the apple pie for dessert). If you want to see a piece of Denver history and taste different game you don't normally get to try everyday, then I highly recommend Buckhorn Exchange. This is the warm and welcoming part of Denver you don't get to experience too often."

"Walked in and was greeted with friendly staff. We were early for our reservation so we sat at the bar and had some Breckinridge Brews as seen in my photos. There is a nice environment and a bunch of taxidermy animals on the walls as well has some snippets of history. Once we sat at our table we ordered appetizers, main course, and dessert. (Sorry no picture of the cheesecake). See my photos for a description of each food item. My personal favorite was the duck and quail. If you are looking for a nice place to try a bunch of different meats then this is the place to go. Highly Recommend."
