This business advertises professional knife sharpening out front. I left two knives to be sharpened: a standard Cuisinart chef’s knife (~$) and Sansyu Nakiri knife ($). He charged me $ and gave...

I’ve been going here since they opened a few years ago, and always had good experiences, so I didn’t bother examining the dress shoes I’d had re-heeled when I picked them up. But when I got home I not...

"Great local place. Brought in a pair of tall brown leather riding boots. The heels were completely busted. He had to redo the entire sole of the shoes and offered to polish the leather too. It was $, which was more than I wanted to pay, but the finished job was so wonderful. I was really impressed. Also they texted me when the shoes were ready. He said 2 weeks, but texted after 1 week."

"This business advertises professional knife sharpening out front. I left two knives to be sharpened: a standard Cuisinart chef’s knife (~$) and Sansyu Nakiri knife ($). He charged me $ and gave me a claim ticket, stating that he would text when they were done. Over a week went by and I still hadn’t heard anything from him, so I stopped by to see if they were done. He acted strangely once I gave him my claim ticket. He proceeded to give me back only one of the knives. When I said that one knife was missing, he then became defensive and told me: “that I should worry about my health, not a knife”. He said that he would call someone and then call me the next day. More than hours passed, and he still hadn’t called, so I went in again. On this second visit, he now claimed to have lost the second knife. He then offered me some random, cheap knives, which I refused. I insisted that he pay for the knife that he had lost. He offered to give me $ for the lost knife, to which I pointed out that that would simply be refunding me for what I originally paid. He then aggressively asked me what I wanted. I repeated: for him return the value of the knife he lost. He expressed that I was being ridiculous and gave me additional $. During all our interactions his aggressive-defensive stance and sheepishness makes me strongly suspect that he might have recognized the expensive knife and stolen it. The whole experience was very unpleasant, and I was made to feel that I had done something wrong. I took the knife to a professional because I was afraid I’d ruin it if I sharpened it at home. I wouldn’t come here with any high-quality, expensive items. It is primarily a shoe repair shop (items which regularly cost more than $) and he is not prepared to compensate for lost items at value."

"I've gone to Bob's Shoe and Leather Service with shoes that were too painful to wear, shoes that needed new soles, a hand-me-down leather wallet that needed repair, and a jacket that was missing a button. The guys at Bob's helped me every time. (Hi, thank you!)"

"I’ve been going here since they opened a few years ago, and always had good experiences, so I didn’t bother examining the dress shoes I’d had re-heeled when I picked them up. But when I got home I noticed what looked like a deep scratch from the toe to the vamp. They had also polished them and changed the color and texture of the Horween Dublin leather, even though I told them not to polish when they asked me at drop-off. And the tongue spacers, for which I’d previously paid them $7, were gone. When I went back and calmly asked them to address these issues, they said it was only glue, and told me to calm down and not worry so much about my shoes. They managed to get most of the glue off, but I still don’t understand why they polished over it and didn’t fix it first. They replaced the tongue spacers, but when I told him that he’d asked me if I wanted them polished when I dropped off and I said no, but they did it anyway, he shrugged and said “we always polish.” I said that’s fine- I’ll just go someplace else from now on, and let others know by writing a review. So now you know- Bob’s may do a decent job with a new heel, but also expect surprise cosmetic changes that may mot be to your liking. Don’t expect apologies. Do expect to be told to calm down when you politely point out problems."

"Pretty miraculous shoe repair! This is a quality family-run business. They have saved many of my favorite pairs of shoes. I especially appreciate the sturdy textured grip soles they used on the most recent pair of shoes I brought them. I recommend their services !!"
