"I have bareboat chartered several times now through Blue Pacific Yachting and can tell you that the service, boats, and value is second to none in Southern California. With over 1k hours on the water across several oceans, the team at BPY stands out as one of the best I've seen in Europe and the Caribbean. The ASA course offerings are thoughtful, affordable, and are a fantastic way for anyone who has ever dreamed of dropping a hook at an island to gain confidence. Highly recommend BPY to anyone looking for adventure."
"I’ve completed the ASA , , , and courses at Blue Pacific, as well as chartered one of their smaller boats for a day sail with friends, and have had nothing but great experiences with the staff and instructors! I recently took the combined / class with Captain Chris Kehrli who I highly recommend as an instructor. He perfectly balances safety, teaching, and fun - and like all of the blue pacific team is friendly and professional throughout. If you’re at all curious about sailing, this is a great place to start!"
"Just completed the new Power Boating course at Blue Pacific over the past two weekends with extremely competent and knowledgeable instructor Chris Kehrli. Absolutely fantastic time! This course covered everything; safety, boat operation, maneuvering and docking, navigation, fueling/pump-out, and rules of the road, culminating in a weekend to Catalina to prepare for bareboat chartering. Great value for money, and lots of boat time. Blue Pacific has consistently exceeded my expectations, with warm and welcoming office staff, modern facilities, and very professional, competent, and fun instructors. Probably the only place in So. Cal. to provide this... a must for anyone wanting to explore and or prepare for chartering power boats."
"I have chartered Benetau from Blue Pacific Yahting for a week to go to Catalina. Check in was quick and the person who showed us the boat did a great job. The boat was in slightly less than ok condition. The power outlets died with a burst of sparks when we tried to use them for the first time and killed the whole shore power electric circuit. WHF died completely in the middle of our charter. The dinghy engine started when we were checking it, but it turned out (later on) that the engine has a flooding problem. I spent long time trying to start it. Could actually start it only two times. The cord was worn out and I was afraid it could rip apart. Had fun time rowing it against the wind and waves and had to cancel our trip ashore for the last day. This problem was also mentioned by previous customers who left notes about it in the log. It felt terrible seeing how the excessive fuel goes from the engine right into the ocean. The worst part is that the company cannot do anything to fix the situation. They don't have a boat to come to Catalina and fix/replace stuff. May be I'm too spoiled by Dream Yacht charters who traveled miles to us on BVI to fix stuff. Another uncool part is that they charge you extra for using dinghy and when I asked about the refund the said 'no' because the engine was starting during the check in. Well, yeah, my complain is not that the engine doesn't start at all, but the flooding, which makes you trying to start it multiple times and worn out cord that makes the engine unusable. The check out was quick. The guy who did it also helped us with refueling and docking, which was a great experience for us."
"I took ASA and it was great! Curtis is an amazing instructor who made the whole experience super fun while making sure we still learned a lot. I'll be going back for ASA. Highly recommend this place. Everyone working there is very friendly and it's a really fun way to spend a weekend or a whole week or more."
