"My fiance and I went to buy a couple of firearms. I was getting a new shotgun for home protection and she was getting a smaller handgun She wanted to buy the shotgun for me because I also shoot sporting clays and the gun will double as home protection for us. I was going to buy the handgun for her for personal protection. BOTH of us are authorized legally to purchase and own. The guy at the counter, at the location on Vance Jackson, was plain ignorant. He said she can't buy it for you. I said well then I will buy it for myself. The guy didn't want to make the sale. I went to talked to the manager and explained the issue. The manager said he will talk to the guy about his attitude and laws for purchase. However, that person at the gun counter already refused the sale. I told him that's wrong since we are both authorized! I also reminded him that I stated if she can't buy the shotgun for me, then I will get it for myself and she can get her own handgun. We can still make the purchase. Then he suggested she get a gift card and I use that for the shotgun. I told him it's the same thing. Besides we were both buying (and passing the NICS). Because of the ignorance of the counter employee we went to different store to get what we want. A store that treats you like a valuable customer. I even told the employee at the other store what happened and he just shook his head in disbelief. We went ahead and made our purchases and YES, we both cleared NICS. The academy store lost multiple sales on firearms, plus ammo, eye and ear protection, carrying case, etc."

"Always clean, organized. No empty shelves or racks of what you expect to find. My go to place for sports, hunting, exercise wear/equipment. Employees always friendly and ready to assist."

"We went there for a specific item so founded easily. Then we decided to shop more in the apparel section. Couldn't find any store clerks to look for different size nor get the displayed item, so we walked out with just 1 item. It was right before Christmas so we understood they were busy."
